We have both had a wonderful time here in NYC celebrating our 19 year friendship and Mother’s Day 2010. I hope everyone is celebrating Mothers everywhere. Oprah and her team of celebrities and all of her staff put together a 5 star weekend. From the Reception on Friday through the Sunday Morning Walkathon there were sights, sounds and celebrities. There was inspiration from Elizabeth Gilbert, advice from protecting your money with Suze Orman, improving your health with Dr. Oz, decorating boldly with “Cutie” Nate Berkus, inspiration from life coach Martha Beck, great wisdom from Donna Brazile, and an easy plan for living a richer life with less stuff with Peter Walsh. There were book signings, live radio shows, make-overs, gifts, and flowers.
Oprah’s event at Radio City Music Hall was wonderful. She gave us inspiration through her own life story and told us through “What I know for sure . . . . .” is that each step along the way we can open ourselves to the energy and receive inspiration and direction. In our daily quiet times or in our struggles through centering and listening - we find our way. She gave us images of her life, from childhood to now and described how “What she knows for sure – was that God was always there for her and that she couldn’t get through it without Him. Be the best you can be through ever phase of your life and look for your path forward so you can be generous to others. Did I mention Hugh Jackman burst on stage to bring in the anniversary cake with the Rockets?
The Sunday morning walkathon was a success with all her celebrity guests – even Bette Midler and Jennifer Hudson. The charity event was very well attended with almost 10,000 women and men. We all braved the cold wind to end up at a Times Square Party with lots of free cupcakes!
